Eagles Vs. Redskins: Philadelphia Falls Just Short Of NFL First Half Point Record

Just as it seemed the Redskins might have a glimmer of hope to make this disaster of a game into a competitive contest after scoring two touchdowns following starting out to a 35-0 deficit, the Eagles scored another 10 points before the end of the first half to put the game prohibitively out of reach before the break.

The Eagles were driving at the end of the half ahead 42-14 with a chance to tie the 1983 Packers for the highest first half score in NFL history. Those Packers scored 49 points in the first half of a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles were forced to kick a field goal, and thus were denied one record.

But the record 55 point total that marks the highest ever for a team on Monday Night Football is still certainly within reach, unless the Eagles intend to sit absolutely everyone in the second half.
