After the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers exchanged three-and-outs on their respective opening possessions, Adrian Peterson sparked a drive that culminated in a 24-yard field goal, giving the Vikings a 3-0 lead in Minnesota.

Peterson busted through the line for a 25-yard gain to kick-start the drive, and then Brett Favre converted a critical third-and-long when he found Toby Gerhart for a 19-yard gain. Favre also hit Greg Lewis on a 29-yard strike to set Minnesota up with a 1st-and-10 at Green Bay’s 11-yard line.
The Vikings, however, were not able to punch it in, settling instead for Longwell’s field goal.
Packers all-world outside linebacker Clay Matthews picked up a sack on Minnesota’s opening possession of the game, his 12th of the season. Green Bay takes over looking for a tie or a lead with around six minutes remaining in the first quarter.
