Giants Vs. Eagles: Two Late Turnovers Turn First Half Sour For New York

Just as the Giants corralled Michael Vick for a sack to get the ball back midway through the second quarter with a chance to take the lead, the New York offense began to come undone.

First, Ahmad Bradshaw coughed up the ball deep in his own territory. The Eagles turned that into their first field goal of the game. The Giants turnovers didn’t stop there. Asante Samuel jumped a route deep in New York territory to set the Eagles up again in prime position for a score.

It momentarily appeared that Philadelphia landed an early knockout blow when Michael Vick found Jason Avant open in the back of the end zone, but the receiver dropped the third down pass and the Eagles were forced to settle for a second field goal in a few minutes. So while the Eagles hold a 13-3 lead with a few minutes remaining in the first half, there’s the sense they’ve squandered a few opportunities to put a division foe away when they had a chance.
