Ellis Hobbs On Neck Injury: ‘I’ll Be Back’

There was a scary moment in the Philadelphia Eagles 27-17 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. CB Ellis Hobbs took the second half kick return up the middle of the field and, as he was being tackled, received a helmet-to-helmet hit that knocked him out on the ground.

He laid there motionless for a few seconds. Post-game x-rays on his neck were negative and he sounds as if he’ll be OK judging by the way Eagles head coach Andy Reid was talking after the game.

"He was upset," Reid said. "He wanted to get up and go. Sometimes that happens in those situations . . . I told him to stay down there and trust the guys that were working with him. Let's just make sure things are OK. Let's not do anything stupid here."
As he left the field, he was able to wave to the fans so that's the first sign the injury isn't as serious as it could have been. Hobbs didn't do a post-game interview except for three words to ESPN early on Monday morning: "I'll be back."

That's certainly good news for Hobbs and for anyone that was watching him lay there on the ground. Check out Bleeding Green Nation to see how Eagles fans are reacting to the injury.
