When Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo broke his collar bone in Week 7, initial reports pegged him to be out 6-10 weeks, depending on how he heals. There's still some discussion on when he'll be ready to go but Tim McMahon of ESPN Dallas reports he will be out for at least another three weeks.
Tony Romo’s Injury May Only Cost Him Three More Weeks Of Cowboys 2010 Season
If he returns after three weeks, then that will be seven total weeks that he’s missed.
There was some curiosity as to whether the Cowboys would even try to bring Romo back this season. They were 1-5 after the game in which he was injured and all but assured they wouldn’t be playing deep into January. Even with the Cowboys now sitting at 3-7, Romo may return this year.
Backup QB Jon Kitna has put up two solid performances in a row -- both Cowboys victories -- but his play will have no bearing on Romo's return, team owner Jerry Jones says.
“When I think of Tony, I think of it more as when he’s ready, that type of thing, more than I think about how well Kitna’s played,” Jones said.
Jones says it’s important that the Cowboys finish with a “good taste” in their mouth so Romo’s return, even with the Cowboys all but eliminated from the playoffs, would still be important.
