Broncos Vs. Chargers: Rivers Tosses Four Touchdowns, San Diego Cruises To 35-14 Win

Philip Rivers tossed four touchdowns as the surging San Diego Chargers dominated the Denver Broncos 35-14 thanks to Philip Rivers. Rivers only threw fifteen passes but four of them were for touchdowns. He finished 15-for-24 with 233 yards and one interception.

Mike Tolbert added 25 carries for 111 yards and a score for the Chargers (5-5), who moved back to .500 with a three-game winning streak. San Diego now sits in a tie for second-place in the division with Oakland, both of which are a game behind the first-place Chiefs.

Patrick Crayton had three catches for 105 yards and a score, but left the game after his touchdown with an injured left wrist. Darren Sproles added five catches for 60 yards with a touchdown.

Kyle Orton was 24-for-38 with 217 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Broncos (3-7), who failed to build on last week’s victory over Kansas City and have now dropped five of their last six.

Bolts From The Blue says that while the offensive stats were impressive, this one was all about the defense.

The real story of the game, though, was the Chargers defense led by three sacks by Shaun Phillips who held a prolific Denver passing offense to 7 points through the game’s first 51 minutes before becoming content to just let time run off the clock by allowing Denver to repeatedly connect on short underneath routes.
