Broncos Vs. Chargers: San Diego Moves Into Second Place, Eyes Colts Next Week

The San Diego Chargers annual slow start is usually followed by their annual midseason winning streak. It appears we're in the midst of that winning streak right now as the Chargers 35-14 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football is their third consecutive victory.

SB Nation’s Bolts From The Blue says it’s nice to win but San Diego was expected to be here.

The end result is that San Diego moves into a tie for second place in the AFC West with Oakland at 5-5 and Denver is all but eliminated at 3-7 and all alone in last place. Charger fans will be and should be happy about this win, but they should also remember that Denver is a lousy football team and San Diego will face a very good Indianapolis Colts team next week on the road.

The 6-4 Colts are a much better test for the Chargers than the Broncos are. The Colts are in the NFL elite so San Diego will have to be on its game next week.

The Chargers, at 5-5, can't afford more than one, maybe two more losses of the remaining schedule: at Colts, Raiders, Chiefs, 49ers, at Bengals, Broncos. They may just be able to run the table.
