The Bungles are a fitting nickname for the Cincinnati Bengals today. Mistakes are crippling the Bengals, handing the New York Jets the game on a silver platter. A fourth quarter safety was just the latest in a series of missteps that have cost the Bengals. Down 14 points halfway through the fourth quarter, Carson Palmer was sacked in the end zone, giving the Jets two points and the ball, likely killing any chance for a Cincinnati comeback.
Bengals Vs. Jets: The Bungles Return With Another Mistake On Offense
Two Carson Palmer interceptions in Jets’ territory killed drives and kept points off the board for the Bengals in the first half. A muffed punt led to an easy Jets’ touchdown in the third quarter, giving the Jets a 10 point lead. Finally, after the Bengals hit a field goal to close the gap to seven, Brad Smith burst through some porous special teams coverage on the ensuing kickoff, racing 90 yards for the score.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Jets lead the Bengals, 26-10.
