The story of this game was supposed to be one of the league's most explosive offenses (the Philadelphia Eagles) versus probably the NFL's most vaunted defense (the Chicago Bears). One of those sides of the ball showed up.
Bears Dominate First Quarter, Lead Eagles 14-3
Jay Cutler threw for two touchdown passes, one to Johnny Knox and one to Earl Bennet, to put the Bears up 14-3. Matt Forte set up the first touchdown pass by running the ball 61 yards into the Eagles red zone.
Michael Vick has thrown 7 completions on 11 attempts with 75 yards and a passing touchdown. He also has 2 rushes for 9 yards.
The first quarter featured almost no signs of an Eagles offense that scored 35 points in 15 minutes and 8 seconds versus the Washington Redskins or the offense that managed to put up 24 versus the formerly top New York Giants defense. On the other hand, a Chicago Bears offense that gets almost no media attention managed to put up 14 points on an Eagles defense that seemed to be gaining traction as it worked its way to the ninth best defense in the NFL.
