In the first game since coach Brad Childress was fired, the Minnesota Vikings withstood the Washington Redskins furious rally pair of late Graham Gano field goals, despite a brief Adrian Peterson injury. Peterson came back after hurting his ankle and finished with 70 total yards.
NFL Week 12 Scores And Results: Vikings 1-0 Without Brad Childress, Topping Skins 17-13
With Peterson missing time, rookie RB Toby Gerhart had a little bit of a breakout game, running for 76 yards and his first NFL touchdown. The Skins only ran for 29 yards on 13 carries and averaged just 5.3 yards per pass attempt, with four Vikings sacking QB Donovan McNabb and LB E.J. Henderson picking off a pass.
I can’t remember whether there were any new Brett Favre controversies this week or not, but he threw for 172 yards in one of his least eventful box score appearances ever.
The 4-7 Vikings can get interim coach Leslie Frazier another win next week against the Buffalo Bills. The 5-6 Redskins play the Giants in New York.
