Arizona players admit their team isn’t as well equipped as past iterations to come back from big deficits. That assessment looks like it will be put to the test on Monday night, as the 49ers have scored two early touchdowns to jump put to a 14-3 advantage.
49ers Vs. Cardinals: San Francisco Jumps Out To 14-3 First Quarter Lead
The 10-play, 55-yard drive was capped by a one-yard Anthony Dixon touchdown run. Frank Gore, who left the game after the 49ers’ first drive, came back on the first play of their third drive to make a nine-yard run. He then exited the game again, as Brian Westbrook and Dixon split carries the rest of the drive.
The key passing play was a 16-yard Troy Smith completion to Vernon Davis to set the Niners up at the Arizona 13. Through one quarter, it’s been the dominating San Francisco ground game that has been the difference. The 49ers have 79 rushing yards at the end of the first.
