If there was a chance for New England to come back against Cleveland today, Peyton Hillis trampled it.
Week 9 NFL, Patriots Vs. Browns: Peyton Hillis Touchdown Puts Game On Ice
Hillis rumbled 35 yards for a touchdown to finish a 60-yard fourth quarter drive, and the Browns took a 34-14 lead that became the final margin.
Hillis, one of the revelations of this NFL season for both the Browns and for fantasy players, had another excellent day against the somewhat porous Patriots rush defense. He ran for 184 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns, which took a lot of pressure off of rookie Colt McCoy.
If you believed that Tom Brady is made of magic dust and unfettered glory, you might have thought the Patriots still had a shot at a comeback after that Hillis score. But that touchdown ended this one — Brady wasn’t even given a chance to try a comeback, and replacement Brian Hoyer threw a pick on his try — and the Browns now have a win over the last one-loss NFL team.
