The New Orleans Saints dominated Pittsburgh in the second half last Sunday night, and they continued their dominant ways in crushing the Carolina Panthers 34-3 at Bank of America Stadium.
NFL Scores And Results, Week 9: Drew Brees, Saints Dominate Hapless Panthers
Drew Brees threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns in the win, though he did also throw an interception, giving him at least one pick in five consecutive games. It mattered little, as the Saints were able to move the ball at will offensively, gaining 418 total yards of offense in the victory. Brees hit Jeremy Shockey on his first touchdown, and when Shockey was injured on that play, he went to backup tight end Jimmy Graham for his second scoring toss.
Jabari Greer added a 24-yard pick-six in the third quarter off of rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen (who was benched), and Ladell Betts added a one-yard touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Panthers starting quarterback Matt Moore was knocked out of this game after completing three of his first six passes for 13 yards. Clausen relieved him and was terrible, completing 8 of 18 passes for just 47 yards, along with the pick-six to Greer. Carolina turned to third quarterback Tony Pike in the loss; typically, if your favorite NFL team is using three quarterbacks in the same game, things aren’t going well.
New Orleans is now 6-3 heading into their bye week, while the Panthers fall to 1-7.
