The third quarter featured seven punts and one fumble. Chad Henne, the Dolphins quarterback, lost the football to Jets safety Brodney Pool. The Jets followed up the fumble recovery with a 6 yard, 1:05 drive that ended with a Steve Weatherford punt that was not returned.
Dolphins punter Brandon Fields has punted well enough to have CBS' announcing crew naming him the game's MVP. Fields put on a show from the punting position, kicking a season long 69 yard punting during the third quarter.
Miami Dolphins rookie cornerback Nolan Carroll appeared to be tripped by a member of the Jets personnel during one of the punt returns. The rookie stayed on the ground for a little bit, eventually getting up and returning to the game.
