The Seattle Seahawks, sitting at 6-6 and atop the NFC West entering Week 14, quickly and efficiently found themselves trailing 40-7 in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. This is the same 49ers team, by the way, that started the season 0-5 and, in defeating Seattle 40-21, moved to 5-8 on the season - and are just one game out of the division lead.
NFL Week 14 Scores And Results: 49ers Pound Seahawks, Pull Within One Of NFC West Lead
The NFC West is stupid.
San Francisco, to be fair, has gone 5-3 since their 0-5 start despite playing three different players at quarterback. In defeating Seattle, the 49ers forced five Seahawks turnovers, including four interceptions of Matt Hasselbeck - one of which was returned for a touchdown by Dashon Goldson. Alex Smith threw three touchdown passes, two of them lengthy scores to Vernon Davis and Brian Westbrook, and not even Leon Washington, who returned his third kickoff for a touchdown in defeat, could make things look respectable on Seattle’s end.
With the St. Louis Rams’ loss dropping them to 6-7, both of these teams remain very much in the hunt for a division championship. Not even the 4-9 Arizona Cardinals are out of it yet.
