The Washington Redskins are reportedly starting Rex Grossman over Donovan McNabb on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. The news is somewhat surprising as there had been some rumblings last week that a move like this might come at some point.
Redskins Players Are ‘Extremely Pissed’ Rex Grossman Will Start Over Donovan McNabb
According to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, Redskins players are “extremely pissed” about the move. Multiple Redskins players tell La Canfora that offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan -- son of head coach Mike Shanahan -- is using McNabb as a scapegoat for some of the Redskins trouble this year. Anytime a team struggles, someone will get blamed. It appears, according to La Canfora’s account, that the blame will be placed on McNabb. He hasn’t played the best of seasons but it’s hard to place this squarely on him.
La Canfora also notes Kyle Shanahan was a potential head coaching candidate while he was with the Houston Texans last year but with his 2010 season in Washington that chatter has gone away.
