The Patriots' Danny Woodhead has become a great role player for Bill Belichick's team, running the ball and catching passes as a sort of miniature, migraine-free version of Percy Harvin or a backfield-ready Wes Welker. But that versatility doesn't necessarily extend off the field, as this "viral" video proves.
Danny Woodhead Sells Own Jersey With Grit, Anonymity
↵
↵Woodhead may have truly sold seven jerseys and seven T-shirts, but the video only shows him closing one sale. Is that the sort of retail savvy Woodhead has? And if Woodhead really does have the best-selling jersey in Boston, having the player himself drop into an area Modell’s unannounced doesn’t seem like a ploy that will drive up jersey sales; those 14 articles might have sold anyway.
↵More likely, in my mind: the cameras only got about two minutes of usable footage because the majority of Patriots fans actually did recognize Woodhead, and he was able to make a majority of his sales based on the novelty of “Danny Woodhead selling his own jersey!” Also, the Wizard of Oz was just a dude behind a curtain. Sorry!
