Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre is playing tonight, and well so far, completing two passes to WR Percy Harvin on the Vikes opening drive. The second went 23 yards for a touchdown, giving Minneosta an early Monday Night Football lead at TCF Bank Stadium.
Bears Vs. Vikings: Brett Favre And Toby Gerhart Power Minnesota’s Opening Score
Tonight’s other surprise start, RB Toby Gerhart, added 26 yards on four carries, including a nine-yard burst up the middle. He’s starting in place of Adrian Peterson, who was ruled out with a mysterious thigh injury.
Favre was a late starting decision, stepping in for Joe Webb after a brief pregame throwing session. He had been upgraded to Questionable earlier after missing last week due to a shoulder injury, his first missed start in 297 games.
So far the icy conditions and unpopular playing surface haven’t appeared to make an enormous impact, though a Vikings defender and Bears receiver lost control of the ball on successive plays on Chicago’s first drive.
