So why, exactly, is the NFL discussing possibly postponing the Eagles-Vikings game scheduled for Sunday night on NBC? In a word: snow.
Philadelphia Weather: Snowy Conditions May Force Postponement Of Eagles-Vikings
Weather all over the eastern seaboard is going to be a bit crazy today, but Philadelphia weather might be smack in the center of a blizzard. Here’s the forecast for today’s weather at the Philadelphia airport, via flightstats.com:
Today. Snow...mainly this afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times this afternoon. Snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. Brisk with highs in the lower 30s. North winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
Tonight. Periods of snow. Blowing snow. Snow may be heavy at times. Total snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches. Windy with lows around 20. Northwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
That’s some heavy snow, for sure, and it might make playing football at Lincoln Financial Field difficult. But the NFL must also consider the safety of travel to and from the game, and whether fans can or will want to brave blizzard conditions to see Michael Vick play Brett Favre.
