The Chicago Bears drove 47 yards in nine plays to set up a Robbie Gould field goal on their opening drive against the New York Jets, with five of those plays involving RB Matt Forte. The highlight was a 14-yard pass from QB Jay Cutler to WR Devin Hester that nearly converted a second-and-long.
Jets Vs. Bears: Matt Forte TD Gives Chicago 10-0 Lead In Sloppy First Quarter
On the first Jets possession, both WR Santonio Holmes and RB LaDainian Tomlinson fumbled in the slushy, muddy conditions. New York recovered Tomlinson’s drop, but Holmes’ muddled around near the sideline as Bears pounced.
The Bears took advantage shortly after, with Forte running for an eight-yard touchdown. Johnny Knox made a sweet catch of a ball tipped off another Bears receiver, putting Chicago 13 yards closer to the goal line.
Forte has 48 total yards already. Jets QB Mark Sanchez, true to form, is playing well in a road game with crappy weather, driving the Jets into the red zone as I click publish.
