The New York Jets responded to the Chicago Bears early 10-0 lead with an eight-play, 80-yard drive to close the lead. QB Mark Sanchez has been excellent, completing all seven of his passes for 90 yards on the day, and RB Shonn Greene ran up the middle for the three-yard touchdown. WR Santonio Holmes, who fumbled away the previous New York drive, sat out this one.
Jets Vs. Bears: Mark Sanchez Drives New York Within Three, Then Jay Cutler Throws Pick Six
On the next Bears drive, QB Jay Cutler threw an out to the left that was jumped by Dwight Lowery. The cornerback trotted 20 yards to give New York its second touchdown in under a minute. Cutler has now thrown 14 interceptions this year. It was a curious throw — Cutler’s feet didn’t slip in the wet grass, and the ball didn’t appear to slide out of his hands. His target had two Jets near him, and the pass didn’t really have a good chance to be completed.
The Jets have outgained the Bears early, and without Holmes’ fumble might have a pretty big lead right now.
