Leslie Frazier and the Minnesota Vikings had two extra days to prepare for Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles and they used that to the fullest advantage as they made life miserable for Vick on Tuesday night. Statistically he had an OK night completing 25-of-43 passes for one touchdown and one interception but he was beat up all night long. He was sacked six times and fumbled away a touchdown as the Vikings beat the Eagles, 24-14.
Vikings Vs. Eagles: Michael Vick Is Slowed Down In Loss
SB Nation’s Bleeding Green Nation is looking for some silver linings in this one but it’s hard to find many with Vick’s play.
The offensive line was terrible, but that's not really new. The only difference was that Michael Vick wasn't able to do something amazing to save them. He looked more like preseason Vick with a couple bad turnovers and generally never looking comfortable. He was getting beat up all night and it really looked like it was getting to him.
When you’ve come to expect amazing, you are disappointed when you get average. Vick has been terrific this year but the Eagles simply can not advance far in the playoffs if Vick turns it over. The Vikings had him figured out on Tuesday night and the Eagles better hope other teams can’t replicate that.
So the Eagles now have essentially a bye next week as they’re locked into the third seed in the playoffs. We’ll see how much Vick plays since there’s nothing on the line.
