The Philadelphia Eagles will tell you the bottomline in this game is that they walk away with a 34-24 victory over the Houston Texans. That is correct but fans over at SB Nation's Bleeding Green Nation are also raising concerns about the defense following the Eagles Thursday Night Football victory.
Thursday Night Football, Texans Vs. Eagles: Philly Offense Soars; Defense Does Not
The Eagles built a 10-point lead against the Texans but in the second half the Texans came out swinging and put up two touchdown drives that spanned 24 plays and over 12 minutes. Sure, the Eagles won the game but, as Bleeding Green Nation points out, that was a mini-meltdown by the Eagles defense.
It was excruciating to watch the Texans move methodically down the field toward the red zone, where they’d inevitably score against the league’s worst red zone defense. Vick and the offense bailed them out in this game, but we can’t gloss over the fact that there’s real problems on that side of the ball.
Eagles fans are just as concerned with the future right now and that includes the playoffs. Can they win in the playoffs with a leaky defense? Can Michael Vick continue to bail them out? Those are all legitimate questions. Fans at Bleeding Green Nation say any December win is a good win but there are always question marks after the game.
