The San Fransisco 49’ers traveled to Lambeau Field today in what was a very tough situational spot for them.
49ers Vs. Packers: Jeff Reed Drills A Field Goal; Mason Crosby Doesn’t
A warm-weather, west coast team that had to travel to the frigid Wisconsin climate for a 1 PM start time. This is something to pay attention to as the game goes on, if it takes a toll on them.
The Niners came out with a solid first drive, and quarterback Troy Smith scrambled and found a wide-open Michael Crabtree for a 30-yard gain down to the Packers’ 25-yard line. Green Bay tightened up in the red zone, though, and the Niners had to settle for Jeff Reed’s first field goal as a member of the team which he nailed.
Green Bay came out as expected, and put together a solid drive of their own with a pass-heavy gameplan. They drove down the field and mounted a long, 6-minute drive. Everything was going their way, and they found themselves in the red zone. However, Rogers was hit with an awful intentional grounding penalty that shouldn’t have been called. The result, was settling for a field goal as the Niners defense clamped down, but kicker Mason Crosby hit the upright.
San Francisco currently leads 3-0, and Green Bay looks a bit out of sync. Keep it here for updates as they come in!
