Forget anything you saw or read about Brett Favre's injury making a bad Vikings season worse. What kind of idiot would write something like that when the injury allowed Tarvaris Jackson to immediately become the best quarterback in the NFL?
Tarvaris Jackson Leading Vikings Resurgence After Brett Favre Injury

Joking aside, Jackson's been amazing since a first quarter interception returned for a touchdown. He's thrown for 170 yards and two touchdowns — both to Sidney Rice — and led an offense that looks better than it has all season to 31 first half points. The Vikings' previous high for points in a game this season? 27. And that came in overtime against the Cardinals.

Suddenly, with Jackson at the helm, the Vikings are resembling the Super Bowl contender they were all of last season. This is obviously a performance that can be partly explained by their opponent — the Bills may be a good 2-9 team, but they're still 2-9 — but if this is what Jackson can do with the keys to the Vikings' offense, Favre may have already lost his starting job for reasons that have nothing to do with injury.
