The New England Patriots offense has finally arrived, driving 80 yards in eight plays to score their first touchdown of the evening. QB Tom Brady threw a two-yard strike to TE Alge Crumpler, who dropped a touchdown earlier in the game, then RB Sammy Morris took a direct snap in for the two-point conversion to close the gap to 14-11.
Tom Brady, Mark Sanchez Trade Scores, Jets Stay Ahead Of Patriots
Pats tight ends Rob Gronkowski, Crumpler, and Aaron Hernandez have accounted for 96 of Brady’s 189 passing yards. Brady has been sacked four times and hit five, but that drive to close out the third quarter sent all the momentum back into the hands of this Foxboro crowd.
Both teams are running the ball well, but the New York Jets have made New England’s more hit-or-miss. Three different Pats runners have broken runs for double-digit yardage, but forced several tackles for loss.
All that talk about momentum may have been for naught, as a big play by Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery (which involved hurdling a Pats defender on the sideline) has given New York the ball in the red zone. And there’s an absolutely ridiculous sideline catch by Santonio Holmes in the end zone, and the Jets are back up by 10.
