The New York Jets were able to confuse and slow down New England Patriots QB Tom Brady only a month after he and the Pats offense put up 45 points on the Jets defense.
Jets Vs. Patriots: How Was Tom Brady Slowed Down In The NFL Playoffs?
A “down game” for Brady actually isn’t that bad, relative to others, at least. Brady completed 29-of-45 passes for 299 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He didn’t seem to have the same rhythm he normally does. In contrast, he completed 21-of-29 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns in their last meeting.
So how did the Jets do it? SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit has three main reasons:
- The Jets Defense Applied A Lot Of Pressure On Brady
- The Jets Safeties Successfully Eliminated Rob Gronkowski And Aaron Hernandez
- The Jets Cornerbacks Came Up With Big Plays When It Mattered
Check out Pats Pulpit for the details but that's about right. They hit Brady and made him think twice about standing in the pocket, took away or at least limited some of his best weapons and the Jets corners simply made big plays.
