The Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets will meet in the AFC Championship game this weekend and in a lot of ways these two teams are very similar with strong defenses and running games. The two head coaches though would appear to be opposites. Then again, Rex Ryan is the opposite of about every NFL coach.
Steelers’ Mike Tomlin Says He And Rex Ryan’s Styles Aren’t That Different
Ryan revealed this week that Tomlin is one of his favorite coaches and Tomlin responded with some interesting words about Ryan.
“He has the pulse of his football team. He does a great job of motivating them. He’s very sound schematically in all three phases. And his glass is always half full. I appreciate that. I’ll tell you, our styles are probably more similar than you would imagine. Rex just has more fun with you guys.”
Whatever their styles are, both coaches have helped create two of the best teams in the NFL with two of the best defenses. I can see Tomlin’s point that their styles may be more similar than we think.
The Jets and Steelers kick off at 6:30 p.m. (ET) on Sunday. Check out Gang Green Nation and Behind The Steel Curtain for more leading up to the game.
