Mark Sanchez Beating The Steelers Would Mean A New Record For QB Road Wins

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez can set a new NFL record on Sunday with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Only 24 years old, he’s already tied the NFL career record for road playoff wins, with four in his two seasons. The Jets have beaten the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts on the road this year and beat the San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals in hostile environments last year.

(Yes, it’s always sort of silly to talk about quarterbacks winning games, since even the best quarterback is just one of 22 non-special teams starters in any given game. Still, Sanchez does actually tend to play better on the road than he does at home.)

Sanchez’ Jets beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh earlier this year. New York’s style does lend itself well to playing on the road, as Rex Ryan has cultivated a team that relishes playing as the underdog.
