Brett Favre Inactive For Vikings In Week 17

Has Brett Favre’s career finally, mercifully come to an end? At the very least, it seems his tumultuous 2010 season has.

Favre had reportedly passed the first part of his post-concussion test for this week's game against the Lions, but Vikings coach Leslie Frazier likely decided Favre's health was paramount, or at least more important than giving the surefire NFL Hall of Famer a start against the Lions' fierce defensive front in a virtually meaningless game.

The Vikings will start Joe Webb, who was good in Favre's stead last week against the Eagles.

This could well be Favre's last game in an NFL uniform. He's 41 and has described this as his last NFL season in recent weeks, and his legendary consecutive starts streak has already been snapped. With the Vikings looking too old for Favre to pursue a Super Bowl with them and his starts streak no longer needing more consecutive games to draw media attention, Favre may finally retire and have it stick.

Of course, he's Brett Favre. Retirement means about as much to him as marriage did to Elizabeth Taylor.
