The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lead the New Orleans Saints 10-7 at halftime. The score might have been much different were it not for some sloppy football from both teams as the first half wound down.
Buccaneers Vs. Saints: Teams Trade Turnovers Prior To Halftime
Josh Freeman had the Bucs poised to extend their lead, but a Jeff Charleston sack caused Freeman to fumble, which Charleston then recovered. On the ensuing possession, Drew Brees threw his 22nd interception of the season, as Larry Asante picked off a Brees pass with ease after intended receiver Lance Moore fell down mid-route.
Tampa Bay, sitting at 9-6, needs a win today, plus losses by the Giants and Packers, to sneak into the NFC playoff picture as a six seed. Right now, they’re doing well for themselves, and the Giants and Packers don’t play until 4PM.
New Orleans, meanwhile, is attempting to wrap up an NFC South title and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, though they, too, will need help to do so. They need a win here - they’re certainly not out of this contest - but they also need an Atlanta Falcons loss to make it happen. Atlanta currently leads Carolina 21-0 at halftime.
