Steelers’ Aaron Smith Won’t Play Vs. Jets; Could Be Available For Super Bowl

We thought the Pittsburgh Steelers may be getting a familiar name back in DE Aaron Smith but head coach Mike Tomlin said Thursday that Smith wouldn’t be returning for the Steelers AFC Championship game matchup against the New York Jets. Smith was injured on Oct. 24 and began some practice this week.

Smith could return if the Steelers beat the Jets and advance to the Super Bowl.

The Steelers had four players listed as out of practice: S Will Allen, WR Arnaz Battle, CB Bryant McFadden and S Troy Polamalu. Don’t worry, Steeler fans, Polamalu will play.

The Jets listed 11 players on the practice report including some big names. LB Jason Taylor did not practice while CB Antonio Cromartie, WR Santonio Holmes, QB Mark Sanchez and CB Darrelle Revis were among those also listed with at least some participation in practice. Those guys are getting rest more than anything.

It looks like injuries won’t be a major factor for either team. Check out Behind The Steel Curtain and Gang Green Nationfor more on the game.
