The New York Jets are underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday’s AFC Championship game but it’s pretty easy to see this game going either way. Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers have been here a few times so we know they’re capable of winning. The Jets were in the AFC Championship game last year but couldn’t hold off the Indianapolis Colts.
Jets ‘Very Confident’ Against Steelers, Antonio Cromartie Says
Even in the underdog role, CB Antonio Cromartie said on ESPN 1050 in New York the Jets are “very, very confident” entering the game.
“We’re very, very confident. Confident in the guys that we have, we’re confident in the coaching staff, and the game plan we have also. We just have to go out and do the things that we did last week and that’s go out and execute all the way around. From the front seven to the back end.”
Being confident means having a shot at stopping Ben Roethlisberger. The Jets neutralized him when the two teams met earlier in the season -- 23-of-44 for 264 yards and one touchdown. Cromartie said Roethlisberger’s “escapability” made him tough to handle.
“I think it’s just his escapability. He can extend the play. When the first guy hits him he can get out of that and try to extend the play and throw the ball down the field to his receivers. I think the whole thing for us in the backend is to make sure we lock onto our guys and make sure they don’t catch the ball.”
