NFL Playoffs: Time For Mayors To Make Mildly Entertaining Bets On Football Games

If it's NFL playoff season, it must be time for mayors and the like to start betting on the outcome of the games. Of course, given the need to make everything more media-friendly in our troubled times, either the mayor of New York City or the mayor of Pittsburgh will be making care packages for troops based on the outcome of this weekend's Jets-Steelers game. Wearing the jersey of the winning team, of course.

↵But, don’t think that Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Luke Ravenstahl (yes, the mayor of Pittsburgh is named Ravenstahl) are just stilted politicians. There’s some fun involved in this as well.

↵↵In addition, if the Jets win, Mr. Ravenstahl promised to place a Jets-themed firefighter hat on a Pittsburgh landmark. If the Steelers win, Mr. Bloomberg will hang a Steelers “terrible towel” on a New York City landmark.

↵↵Does Donald Trump’s hair count as a New York City landmark? Then we could have a win-win, right. If not, there are at least two other locations that should fit the bill and make everyone pull for the Steelers this weekend. Then again, if Mayor Bloomberg could find a hat large enough to cover the entire city of Pittsburgh ...
