2011 Super Bowl: Green Bay Packers Key Matchup Is Pittsburgh Steelers WR Mike Wallace

The 2011 Super Bowl is over a week away and we’re running through some of the key matchups in the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. An important matchup for both sides will be Steelers WR Mike Wallace against the Packers secondary.

Wallace hasn’t put up many stats in the postseason but we’ve seen him play the last two years and we know he’s a significant threat. SB Nation’s Acme Packing Company has an excellent writeup on how the Packers match up.

These match-ups seem like a push, possibly leaning towards a Packers advantage, but Mike Wallace is a home run hitter. He disappeared from both of the Steelers' playoff games, but he can break a massive play at any time, and for that reason, he needs to be watched closely. Based on his performances over his career, his talent, and the talent and performances of the Packers' defense, it seems safe to say that Wallace will put up stats somewhere in-between his playoff showings thus far and his better regular season performances.

The Packers have an outstanding secondary so I have to give the edge to them. Guys like Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams are two of the best in the league and, until Wallace proves me wrong, I think Green Bay at least slows him down.

Check out Acme Packing Company for the full writeup on how Wallace matches up.
