2011 NFL Draft: Where Will The Quarterbacks Land?

Perhaps the most important predictions as we look at the 2011 NFL draft order are where the quarterbacks land. It appears Andrew Luck will be the top quarterback taken followed in some order by Ryan Mallett and Cam Newton (and possibly Blaine Gabbert). There will be other names working their way into the mix but for now that’s who we’ll key on at the top of the draft.

Looking at the top 10 picks in the NFL draft for 2011, there are plenty of questions on where the quarterbacks will go.

The Panthers drafted Jimmy Clausen in the second round last year and while they could use an elite quarterback like Luck, will they prefer to fill holes elsewhere and wait on Clausen? The Broncos spent a 2010 first round pick on Tim Tebow and likely aren’t in the market for a quarterback. The Bills could use one but, then again, Ryan Fitzpatrick had a surprising year and they could look elsewhere. The Bengals continue to have Carson Palmer while the Cardinals aren’t a sure pick to go with a quarterback with John Skelton and Max Hall on the roster. The Browns spent a third round pick in 2010 on Colt McCoy.

The 49ers could use a quarterback with Alex Smith and Troy Smith on the roster. The Titans could seemingly use a quarterback but it’s hard to envision owner Bud Adams dropping Vince Young. The Cowboys have Tony Romo so they’re not looking. The Redskins are a team that could be in the market for a quarterback with the Donovan McNabb mess going on in Washington.

SB Nation’s first 2011 NFL mock draft has Andrew Luck going No. 1 overall to the Panthers while Cam Newton is the next quarterback taken at No. 12 to the Vikings.
