An inexplicable run on third and long in the red zone forced the Indianapolis Colts to settle for a field goal, cutting the New York Jets lead to one. It was clear Peyton Manning checked to a run deep in New York territory, but the Colts got nowhere near the first down. Another Adam Adam Vinatieri field goal, his second of the game, made it a 14-13 ballgame with time winding down in the fourth.

With the Jets grinding down the game clock, the Colts absolutely needed a score on their last drive. Ideally, a touchdown and the lead to cap a long drive. Pierre Garcon was the go-to guy for Manning with Reggie Wayne still limited to just one catch for one yard on the game. Dominic Rhodes was strong on the ground, but couldn’t pick up one last first down in the red zone.
With under four minutes to go in the game, the Colts trail the Jets in their first round NFL playoff matchup, 14-13.
