Bears Vs. Lions: Jay Cutler Never Seemed To Have A Chance

The Detroit Lions defeated the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, 24-13, and a large reason for that is the Lions defensive line. Throughout the night, they harassed Jay Cutler and that's what really changed the game -- the Bears were never able to establish a rhythm.

Cutler was only sacked three times but if you watched the ESPN broadcast you'd notice that he was rarely able to set his feet. Whether it was Cliff Avril off the edge or Ndamukong Suh up the middle, Cutler faced a barrage of pressure. Give Cutler some credit -- he did as well as he could given the circumstances completing 28-of-38 passes.

That’s one of the keys our Lions blog, Pride Of Detroit, is talking about in their Tuesday morning recap of the game. Their recap also notes another story line in the game -- Chicago’s incredible nine false starts on offense.

The other big story of the game with the Bears offense was all of the false start penalties they had. The Ford Field crowd made a lot of noise every time the Bears had the ball, and in turn Chicago had a total of nine false start penalties (eight on offense and one on special teams). This made it tough for the Bears to put together anything on offense, and the fans in attendance deserve a lot of credit for truly being a “12th man” on Monday night.

Check out the full recap at Pride Of Detroit, where they’re celebrating a 5-0 start in Detroit for the first time since 1956.
