Representatives from Super Bowl committees from Arizona and Tampa met in Houston for the NFL’s owners meetings on Tuesday to present their bid for the 2015 Super Bowl.

After a vote from every owner, Arizona was awarded Super Bowl 49. This means, after a cold weather Super Bowl in New York in 2014, the league will return to warm weather in 2015.

The 49th Super Bowl will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals. That stadium has hosted one previous Super Bowl in 2008 when the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots. Considering the success of that Super Bowl week, Arizona figured to be a solid candidate for the 2015 version of the big game.

The first round of votes didn’t reach the 24 votes necessary to seal the deal so it moved onto a simple majority, which Arizona achieved from the league’s owners.

Both Arizona and Tampa conducted presentations to the league’s owners during the meetings stating their case as to why their city should host the 2015 Super Bowl. Following that, representatives from both parties had about five minutess alone with the owners to state their case.

The selection of Arizona for the 2015 Super Bowl comes after Tampa put up billboards in Houston, site of the league’s meetings, on the route the owners would take from the airport to the hotel where the meetings went down. The billboards were “featuring the Florida region’s warm weather and beaches”, according to a report.
