Raiders Start GM Search After Al Davis’ Death, According To Report
The Raiders plan to hire a GM following the death of owner Al Davis, according to a report.
On the second point, it appears the Raiders will hire a GM. Albert Breer of NFL.com reports that the Raider have started the process of searching for a GM to work in football operations. Previously, Al Davis made all personnel decisions.
Breer reports the Raiders’ model would be like the one in Pittsburgh, where head coach Mike Tomlin and GM Kevin Colbert work in concert. It’s unclear how Raiders coach Hue Jackson fits into this, and how much personnel control he’s seeking.
It’s unclear if there is a timeline on hiring someone, and what that timeline is. Breer reports the Raiders could hire a consultant for this season, suggesting Ernie Accorsi or Ron Wolf, who worked in Oakland with Al Davis for over two decades.
