Chris Harris Has Permission To Seek Trade From Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears last week benched both of their starting safeties, Chris Harris and Brandon Meriweather. In Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, Harris was deactivated which means he didn't play. If you're wondering if that's a precursor to a trade, then you may be right.

ESPN reports that Harris planned to formally request a trade from the Bears.

Harris’ representatives, according to the source, had reached out to general manager Jerry Angelo and contract negotiator Cliff Stein for formal permission. When they hadn’t heard back immediately, Harris planned to request permission to seek a trade himself Monday, the source said.

Harris’ agent has confirmed that report and writes on Twitter that the Bears have indeed granted him permission to seek a trade. The NFL trade deadline comes on Tuesday so Harris and his agent have a little over 24 hours to find a trade partner.
