Sam Bradford Injury: Status Uncertain, Rams Say

St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo was decided noncommittal when asked whether or not starting quarterback Sam Bradford would play this week against the Dallas Cowboys. Bradford did not practice today, and was not even near the field as he was required to keep his leg elevated. A.J. Feeley took all the reps with the first team at practice today.

Here’s what Spagnuolo said about his quarterback’s status:

On Bradford playing Sun., Spags: "I don't know what to think on that right now...I don't venture to take any guesses on high ankle sprains."

This morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Bradford was expected to start. The head coach sounded a different note, as you can see. Bradford did take some time to talk to the media today, wearing a boot and limping noticeably.

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Bradford said he is treating his ankle “around the clock” and will make every effort to play this week. A decision on Bradford’s status will most likely come down to the wire. If he does not practice at all this week, the Rams will have to make a serious assessment prior to their game in Dallas.

For Bradford, a game in Dallas is practically a homecoming, with his native Oklahoma City just a few hours up the interstate. He also has a new receiver to work with, the recently acquired Brandon Lloyd, who could make the offense much more potent than it has been all season.

One other significant injury to note. The Rams starting left tackle, Rodger Saffold, looked like he might miss some time with a bone bruise, but he practiced in full today.
