NFL Scores Week 4: Redskins Vs. Rams, Defense Dominates A Hapless Rams Team

Washington sacked St. Louis QB Sam Bradford six times as their defense stifled the Rams for a 17-10 win.

The St. Louis Rams continued to make their case as the worst team in the league with their fourth straight loss on the season. They dropped to 0-4 with a 17-10 loss to the Washington Redskins today.

Washington struck early with a six-yard touchdown pass from Rex Grossman to Santana Moss in the first quarter. Grossman completed 15 of 29 passes with one touchdown and one interception on the day. Washington did the bulk of their damage on the ground. Ryan Torain had 135 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries against the league's worst run defense.

On defense, the Redskins had little problems stopping a short-lived Rams comeback in the second half. Brian Orakpo sacked Sam Bradford 2.5 times, and the Redskins defense had six sacks total on the day. Rookie Ryan Kerrigan forced a Bradford fumble that Barry Cofield recovered for Washington.

Steven Jackson was back to full speed for the Rams, but his return did little to stimulate a stagnant offense. Jackson was limited to just 45 yards on 17 carries. St. Louis kept the refs busy, drawing ten penalties in the game. Dropped passes were again a problem for the Rams' receviers. Mike Sims-Walker had a rough day in particular, dropping three according to unofficial press box tallies.

The Rams will continue their soul searching with a bye next week before facing the Green Bay Packers. Washington also has a bye next week, and a date with the Philadelphia Eagles the week after that.
