All appeared lost for the Denver Broncos. Down 15-0 late in the fourth quarter, it appeared that the Broncos would give Miami its first win of the year.
NFL Scores Week 7, Broncos Vs. Dolphins: Tim Tebow Leads Comeback, Denver Wins In Overtime
Tim Tebow led a stirring comeback in his first Broncos start this season, and Miami remained winless after losing in overtime to Denver.
Then Tim Tebow led a comeback that may be the beginning of his NFL legend.
Tebow, making his first start of the 2011 NFL season, led two touchdown drives in the final five minutes in Miami, capping them with two touchdown passes and a two-point conversion run, to tie the game and send it to overtime. And then Denver turned a Matt Moore fumble into a win, with Matt Prater making up for two early misses with a game-winning field goal in overtime, securing the Broncos' 18-15 victory.
Tebow struggled for much of the game before his comeback, and didn’t complete even half of his 27 attempts. But he ended the game with 161 passing yards and 65 rushing yards, and didn’t have a turnover like Moore did, despite fumbling once and throwing a couple of potential interceptions. That allowed the Broncos to stay close enough for Tebow to stage his comeback.
While this will likely be used as evidence of Tebow’s potential, a recovered onside kick and a defense that limited Miami to just one red zone touchdown had something to do with Denver’s win, too.
With the win, the Broncos move to 2-4 on the season, while the Dolphins fall to 0-6 with the loss.
