Tony Sparano Won’t Be Fired In The ‘Near-Term’, According To Report

We do a weekly story on the NFL coaching hot seat and which coaches should be worried about their job security. Every week, Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano leads that list and that won't be changing this week after the Dolphins blew a 15-point fourth quarter lead against Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos.

But that loss won’t get him fired, according to a report from Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Team sources are saying that Tony Sparano will remain coach of the team for the near-term, barring a significant change in thinking by Ross. Ross left town after Sunday’s comeback 18-15 victory by the Denver Broncos over the Dolphins and is flying across country on business.

As Salguero points out, team owner Stephen Ross probably wouldn’t fire Sparano over the phone so we don’t see him getting fired while Ross is out of town.

It seems a matter of when, not if, when it comes to talking about whether Sparano will be fired but reports out of Miami continue to say that Sparano’s job is safe in the short-term. The perfect time to fire him would have been the Week 5 bye but that didn’t happen so we begin to wonder how long Sparano will last.

Check out SB Nation’s The Phinsider for the latest on how Dolphins fans view Sparano.
