I know I make a lot of hay about the current status of the NFL in the wake of Brett Favre's departure. Just hasn't been the same without the ol' Gunslinger. This is as good a time as any that "Gunslinger" is a title a little like "President" or "Dread Pirate Roberts," in that it can be transferred from person to person. But it is also like a low hand in poker, in the sense that there isn't necessarily always a Gunslinger.

And so we toil in the fields, backs to the sun, laboring in anticipation of the day the Gunslinger returns to us. Tim Tebow has many miracles to work before he can assume the mantel, but he seems at this juncture to be the most promising candidate.
