Colts’ Jeff Saturday Calls Out SB Nation’s Stampede Blue

Following the Indianapolis Colts' historic 62-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints, our Colts blog, Stampede Blue, looked at some comments made by center Jeff Saturday. Specifically, Saturday said that the Colts were "out-coached", among others things, including out-played.

Stampede Blue had this to say about Saturday’s comments:

While Irsay is potentially looking for a new general manager, he might have to also deal with his head coach who, slowly but surely, is losing the players. Colts center and player union leader Jeff Saturday went on a local Indianapolis sports show last night following the game and dropped the 'we got out-coached' bomb on everyone.

Even during the 6-10 season in 2001 under Jim Mora Sr., we never saw Jeff call out his coach. He never called out Caldwell in 2009 when the Polians ordered starters would be rested in the final two games; a move Saturday still get red-in-the-face about when people bring it up. But, after losing 62-7, Jeff probably has had enough. Can't say I blame him.

Saturday didn't take kindly to Stampede Blue's words. Speaking with the Tennessee media before Sunday's game against the Titans, Saturday unloaded on our very own Stampede Blue for what he claimed was a direct misquote.

"That was ridiculous. You've got a 45-year-old man who lives with his mom, down in his basement, freaking blogging about something that was a direct misquote. It had nothing to do with what I said," Saturday said. "At 62-7, there was no redeeming qualities in the way any of us participated. And this is a team thing, 100 percent. I made it perfectly clear.

"Coach Caldwell didn't have on any pads Sunday. We did, and all of us as a team failed to get the job done. I can assure you I don't need the media to clarify what I'm saying. I speak pretty clearly and I was insulted that somebody would do that and try to divide our team and putting things in people's minds that really don't need to be there."

To be clear, Saturday's quote was indeed "out-coached" so he can't really claim it was a misquote. Maybe he can argue that it was taken out of context, but not a misquote.

Also, the blogger on Stampede Blue is not 45 years old, and does not live in his mother's basement. Just to clarify that.
