Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert left the game against the Houston Texans after big hit from Texans linebacker Brian Cushing. Gabbert scrambled 11 yards for a first down before he was hit. He left the game, and Luke McCown entered in his place.

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert left the game against the Houston Texans after big hit.

Gabbert, a first-round pick out of Missouri, took over the Jaguars' starting quarterback job in week 3, taking it from Luke McCown after a big loss to the Jets the week prior. This was his sixth start of the season. Gabbert had completed 69 of 143 passes prior to today's game, with 810 passing yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Cushing’s hit on Gabbert came after the whistle. There was no flag.
Gabbert suffered what is being called bruised ribs on the hit from Cushing. His midsection was being wrapped on the sidelines. He is expected to return.
