The Pittsburgh Steelers exited Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans with injuries to several players: Ben Roethlisberger sprained his foot, Rashard Mendenhall left with a hamstring injury and Aaron Smith was carted off with a foot injury.
James Harrison’s Eye Injury Will Require Surgery, Out Several Weeks
One player, James Harrison, left briefly with an eye injury, but later returned to the game. Based on the latest information, the injury is a little more serious: Harrison will be out several weeks, the Steelers said.
Head coach Mike Tomlin said at Tuesday’s press conference that Harrison’s eye injury will require surgery -- right orbital eye socket -- and will be out a “number of weeks.”
The Steelers defense can still be great without Harrison but this is still a big blow for them. Harrison, former NFL defensive MVP, is one of the best linebackers in the game.
