It isn't often that battles in the NFC North are exciting, but it seems that may be the case this season -- at least when the Minnesota Vikings aren't involved. Putting this hypothesis to the test will be the Chicago Bears as they travel north to take on the Detroit Lions for a Monday Night Football match-up.
NFL Picks And Predictions Week 5: Bears Vs. Lions
The Detroit Lions will put their undefeated record on the line on Monday Night Football against the visiting Chicago Bears. The NFL picks and predictions aren’t quite as lopsided as one might first assume.
Considering the Lions are undefeated and boast one of the best quarterback and wide receiver duos in the NFL with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, it wouldn't be surprising if all of the NFL picks and predictions go in favor of Detroit in this game. Think back to Matt Forte's 200-plus yard rushing day last week, though, and we might have a game on our hands -- especially after seeing what Andrew Sharp pointed out in his weekly NFL picks.
Chicago at Detroit (-4.5) ... Ah, the jinx. Why, Sports Illustrated. WHY???? If Calvin Johnson gets hurt this week, I’m going to murder someone.
The panelists over at ESPN might also be weary of a jinx as the Bears vs. Lions tilt didn’t end up unanimous as both Ron Jaworski and Seth Wickersham submitted their picks in favor of the visiting Bears. CBS Sports didn’t have the same qualms, however, as they were unanimous in picking the Lions. At Yahoo!, only Jason Cole went against the Monday Night Football host team.
As far as score predictions are concerned, by the way, Sports Illustrated's Peter King has the Lions in a 23-17 effortas Brandon Pettigrew, not Johnson, leads the way.
